Frequently Asked Questions

I've compiled the following list of the most common questions I get from my clients. This should help answer any queries you may have, but if not please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Will you be our DJ or do you employ others?

DJ Wes Discos is not an entertainment agency, so you will deal with me from the initial enquiry right through to the end of your event. As a single operator, I pride myself on providing a personal and professional service from beginning to end.

Do you have any testimonials?

Yes, there are many testimonials on both my website and Facebook page. I’m always delighted to receive a thank you card or note from my clients – it’s wonderful to know I’ve been an important part of their special day.

Do you have a back up should a failure occur?

Thankfully I have never experienced a failure with any of my equipment, but I’m always prepared just in case. I carry a fully independent back up system, so you can rest assured that your party will continue should something go wrong.

How soon should I book you?

I recommend booking as soon as you confirm the date of your wedding or event. Once a date is gone I cannot take any other bookings. I will only ever accept one event per night.

The later you leave it, the more likely it is that I will be unavailable, and you may end up disappointed.

How long does it take to set up?

Generally speaking I like to allow an hour for both set up and take down of equipment. This is usually done immediately after your meal, while the venue staff is refreshing the room in preparation for your evening celebrations.

Where possible I will set up alongside your band, if you’re having one, to allow for an easier switch over with no disruption.

How far will you travel?

I am based in Limavady in Co. Londonderry and cover the whole of Northern Ireland and Donegal. However, please don’t hesitate to get in touch if your wedding is taking place further afield as I will always do my best to accommodate you.

Do we have to pay a deposit?

If you choose to book me for your special day I will require a deposit to secure your date. This is usually 20% of the total balance due.

Do you provide a booking contract?

Yes, all bookings are secured by way of contract. This will confirm the venue, event date, start and end times and any other arrangements we have agreed.

It will also detail my full terms and conditions. I will post this to you along with a stamped, addressed envelope to be signed and returned.

How can we pay you?

I accept payment in cash, cheque, debit card, via Paypal or bank transfer depending on your preference.

Our venue needs proof of Public Liability Insurance. Can you provide this?

Public Liability Insurance is now a legal requirement, and most venues will request proof of this. I will gladly provide you with a copy of my certificates, or forward them to your venue on your behalf.

Can we make music requests?

I welcome requests from both you and your guests. At the time of booking I will issue you with a form requesting some additional information on your preferences.

I like to know your “must play” and “must not play” tracks ahead of your event, as well as any songs you would like dedicated to particular guests. This also allows me to get a better idea of your personal tastes so I can tailor your entertainment to suit.

How long do you play for?

In general terms a full night entertainment package for a wedding comprises of up to 5 hours of music and an after-band package will last up to 3 hours. However, I am happy to extend these times with the prior permission of your venue.

Other functions such as parties or corporate events will vary depending on their nature. All time frames are fully flexible depending on your requirements.

We are having a band, but would like you to play our first dance song. Can you do this?

I will be happy to play your chosen first dance song and introduce you to the floor for the first time as a married couple.

I will be at the venue from initial set up to finish, so even if you are having a band followed by a disco I will be there for the entire duration of the evening.

This is a very common request, as a lot of my clients prefer a specific version of their chosen song.

Can you beat another price we have been quoted?

I believe my prices are fair and reasonable for the level of service I provide and the time and effort I put in to every single booking. With that in mind, I am unable to “price match.”

However, if you have a specific budget in mind for your entertainment, contact me to discuss the options available to allow you to get a quality service and still stay within budget.

Can we come to see you play before we book?

While I am always happy for potential clients to attend a function where I am playing, I must respect the wishes of my existing clients. Most of the events I play at are private, so I will always have to ask before inviting a guest.

If you would like to come to see me play just let me know, and I will gladly arrange a suitable time to do so.

We are having a band. Can you set up with them?

I will always set up alongside your band where possible. I find this the best way to minimise disruption to you and your guests, and help maintain the party atmosphere throughout the duration of your event.

Are you any good?

The short answer is yes! I believe I provide a level of personal and professional service which is second to none. In this business reputation is everything, and I’m proud to say that the vast majority of my bookings come from referrals or previous clients.

I have received a number of testimonials from previous clients, which are published on both my website and my Facebook page, and I believe they speak for themselves.
